Covid-19 Update for March 12, 2020

Covid-19: NEXT’s Strategy

Council met last night for our regular monthly meeting. We went over the guidelines from the national denominational office that came out yesterday. We prayed for you, our faith community, and our community at large.

We would ask you to join us in prayer and we will be posting calls to prayer several times a week on Facebook for the foreseeable future.

We will be following all AHS guidelines. Today AHS asked that all gatherings over 250 people be cancelled. This does not apply to places of worship, schools, malls, grocery stores, and pharmacies.

This Sunday

We plan to gather to worship together this Sunday and we still plan to have the NEXT Kids volunteer lunch and learn after the service. We encourage you to make decisions for you and your family based upon your health and best judgment.

Because we are a small church in a large facility it is possible for us to keep a distance if you feel the need to do so. At present we do not have and do not anticipate having hand sanitizer available, so please bring your own or alternately, doors to restrooms will be propped open so that you can hand wash without touching surfaces.

We will be sanitizing prior to your arrival on Sunday morning.

Should Albert Health Service change their recommendation between now and Sunday, we will update you on Facebook and via e-blast.

Taking Care of Each Other

This health crisis offers us a unique opportunity to love our neighbours as ourselves.

Can I encourage you to let your actual next-door neighbour know you would be happy to help if they end up quarantined and need to have someone shop for them?  Knock on their door and give them your name and number on a sticky note if you haven’t already made that connection.

As a community we want to be available to help each other and pray for each other. We will ask you to be ready to do a little extra cooking in case members of our community need meals cooked for them (if that is your gift).

Taking Care of Yourself

Should you need pastoral care during this time, please feel free to connect with Wendy at 403 554 3110 and she or one of the elders will meet with you, or Skype, or chat by phone, as the guidelines of the moment require.
